Serie A Matchweek 6 Review

By  Football Pulp - 28 September 2016

Juventus are back on the top with 5th consecutive success of the season. Serie A Matchweek 6 saw some unprecedented display of football from across Italy, making the season even more interesting than it was previously expected. Also, the San Siro sides are back in the top flight despite being held for draws in their respective ties.

Napoli and Lazio are also performing exceptionally while Rome, despite losing to Torino last week, is still sitting in the top four. However, 5 teams sharing same points are placed at the 4th spot and only the goal difference separates them. The way the league is progressing, it is quite uncertain to predict the top four as there are many new turns which are yet to come.

Napoli got hold of Chievo with a comfortable 2-0 victory while Lazio also got the better of Empoli with the same margin. Fiorentina held AC Milan for a goalless draw while Inter and Bologna had to settle for a point each.  At the other end of spectrum, Atlanta secured three crucial points against Crotone, placing them deep down in the relegation zone. Crotone is the only side left in the league without a win this current season.

It was quite an exciting week in Serie A with goal difference playing the major role. Juventus is flying high with their current form but it's a real stiff challenge they’ll have to bear this time for their crown. Having said that, the league is becoming interesting with every matchweek and the competition is getting much more intense.

Match of the Week

Torino v Roma

Torino stunned the side from the capital with an impressive 3-1 home victory. Joe Hart was impressive with gloves but the talking point was the attack. Italian football is more about defense and tactics but the way Torino targeted Roma’s goal was remarkable.

Team of the Week

Napoli

The side form Naples had an impressive start to the season but lost the script for few weeks that resulted in losing the top spot. However, with Juventus chasing the winning tradition, a win for Napoli will help them keep the title chase intense for their rivals.

Player of the Week

The team captain, Mauro Icardi is the main man for Inter Milan if they have to see themselves back in the European football. Icardi is leading form the front and scoring in every battle that paid off with him being the leading goal scorer in the league and also, his performance is guiding his side inclining smoothly on the league table.
