The arrival of the new strike force, Gabriel Jesus, has brought some uncertainty in Man City ranks. Before Jesus, the responsibility for scoring goals and keeping the goal clock ticking was on the shoulders of Sergio Aguero. But injuries have been a concern throughout and with many big clubs across Europe aiming to snap a deal for Aguero, the future of the 28-year-old at Etihad has taken a shaky turn.
Though he is fit and running but has been benched for the last two Premier League matches as Pep Guardiola has favored the new arrival. The Brazilian hasn’t disappointed with his skill, netting winners on both the occasions. However, this has caused a rift in the dressing room, according to different sources.

Pep Guardiola is also uncertain about Aguero’s future and is unsure about whether he will be able to keep the striker at Etihad after this summer. Though he has once again repeated the desire of having the Argentinean for a long time, the mystery will be disclosed when the transfer window unfolds.
When asked if he feared Aguero might leave in the summer, Guardiola said: "At the end of the season I don't know. I know how difficult it is to find top goal scorers."
'I want him to stay for a long time' – Guardiola
Aguero is the club’s highest goalscorer this season with 18 goals. He joined Man City in 2011, and has since then scored 154 goals for the Citizens. There’s no doubt that Aguero is the best striker in the Premier League since his arrival from Atletico Madrid, and he has always been the first choice for Man City, but these days he has been only the fourth option.
Pep Guardiola responding to this situation added:
“Sergio knows the intention of his manager and the club. I don’t want to sell him. I want him to stay here for a long time until he decides. The reason he’s not played the last two games is that Leroy, Gabriel, and Raheem have played amazingly. That’s the only reason why. If I can change the model and play all four … But I am a guy who likes to play midfield players to have more control. What I feel now is that if Leroy, Gabriel or Raheem don’t play, then he will be in for them.”
The prolific striker has already been linked with PSG and Chelsea. Looking at his ability, PSG would want to see him in their squad whereas Chelsea is likely to make a wise investment if they need to find a replacement for Diego Costa. The Blues are already chasing Lukaku, should that deal fail to occur, they are likely to make a higher bid for Aguero. Even if they find him available at a discounted price, Conte might be interested.

Guardiola is impressed with the pace, work rate and movement of Lorey Sane, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus. The trio has been fantastic and offers a dynamic partnership. Hinting this as a reason for not picking Aguero in recent games, Guardiola has insisted that his trust on Aguero hasn’t vanished. The management has also made it clear that they are in no mood of selling a player who has scored 154 goals for them.
Man City is scheduled to play Bournemouth in the Premier League followed by an FA Cup match. Aguero is expected to be benched once again for these ties. With so much going on, Sergio Aguero will get ample time to think about his future, sitting on the bench. The injury concern apart, the 28-year-old is still one of the finest in the game and should be leading the strike instead of relaxing on the bench. If the situation grows worse, PSG would welcome Aguero with open arms.
