Ligue 1 Matchweek 7 Preview

By  Football Pulp - 8 September 2016

The midweek fixture saw the top two sides, AS Nice and Monaca, compete against each other and put the only unbeaten record in the league on the line, with Nice emerging victorious. Also, it was good to see the champions firing consistently, while Lyon routed back to their winning ways. Bordeaux are silently making their way to the top, and Super Mario once gain made the headlines with a brace. Well, the league’s top flight is anything but equivocal and only Matchweek 7 will clear the dust to some extent.

Ligue 1 Matchweek 7 will begin tonight, so brace yourself for the exciting weekend ahead.

Top Fixture

Toulouse FC v PSG

PSG has an upper hand with 15 wins out of 16 over Toulouse in all competitions and has an average of 2 goals per match but things aren’t the same this season. Toulouse is in an excellent position after back to back victories, bragging 6 crucial points. PSG has always enjoyed their trip to Toulouse, managing to win 5 out of last 6 fixtures but things are different this time around since Toulouse are on a roll and will welcome PSG with a tough encounter.

Losing points is not on the cards for PSG if they need to retain the top spot and successfully defend their throne. Toulouse, on the other hand, is aiming to continue their winning streak and surprise the giants big time. With just two points separating the sides, a win will be immensely beneficial for either of them.

Team to Lookout for:

Bordeaux are enjoying an exciting season so far with 12 points from 6 matches and landing themselves in the top four. The team has been performing splendidly and the urge to win games is quite clear in their strategy. Although the team is quite different from the one that won the French crown 6 years ago, the winning mentality is still there. With the temperatures rising in the Ligue 1, Bordeaux can be one of the top contenders if not for the crown then a European spot for sure.

Player to make Headline

Mario Balotelli

Super Mario scored two goals on his debut with Nice but had some quite evenings. However, his brace against Monaco in the midweek guided Nice to a thrashing victory and climbing up to the top spot. If Nice has to win the league this time, Mario Balotelli is the key and will have to perform, even beyond his perceived caliber. He is a highly rated talent and with the flare of competition in France, he is expected to grow big and a top contender for the golden boot.
