Fernando Torres Suffered a Deadly Blow Last Night!

Atletico Madrid and Spain’s striker, Fernando Torres, suffered a massive blow in what seemed to be an aerial challenge. However, the striker is conscious and stable and has thanked the fans for being concerned.

Atletico Madrid was playing against Deportivo and a late equalizer from Antonio Griezmann helped Diego Simone’s side seal a draw but the talking point of the night was Torres’ injury. The Spaniard got involved in a head clash with Alex Bergantinos. He walloped his head on the turf with the fall, which sparked tremendous concern among his teammates.



The incident occurred in the 85th minute of the game and Torres was taken to the hospital immediately. However, the latest reports and the Spaniard’s tweet is a sigh of relief, as he is now stable and conscious and will resume training very soon.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker will undergo few more tests on Friday to confirm if there’s no serious injury. However, Atletico Madrid’s scans confirm that there are no traumatic alterations or injuries.  

The incident was so severe and scary that players of both the teams rushed to his help. He was given initial treatment on the field for a few minutes before he was transferred to a hospital. Diego Simeone also expressed his concern and nervousness during the after-match press conference. Talking to the media Simeone said:

"We heard the blow from the bench, we saw how he fell, and we were afraid," he said. "We didn't know if that noise was Fernando's neck or not."

"Everybody was speechless in the dressing room because of what happened," said Griezmann.

Well, the 32-year-old striker is in a stable condition now and thanked his fans. He took to Twitter to respond to his fans:

"It was just a scare. I hope to return very soon!"

Torres’s former clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea and his former teammates sent their best wishes to him.
