As the battle at the top is growing intense, teams in Spanish Primera Division, La Liga, are fighting hard to get a hold of the crown. Well, the battle at the top has never been this exciting during the past seasons, which signifies the intense competition in La Liga. Teams like Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal have bolstered their squads and are giving the holders, Barça, and giants, Real Madrid, a run for their money.
With just 9 Matchweeks to look back, the excitement is simply splendid. If the Matchweek had one thing to offer, it was pure excitement. The teams contesting for the top spot recommenced their campaigns in high hopes but witnessed strong challenges.

Atletico Madrid, the team leading the table two days back, is now sitting at the fifth spot. Fortunes changes in just one match! No one ever expected this to happen in La Liga. Real Madrid ended their frustrating run of draws with a narrow win over Atletico Bilbao but Bilbao pushed Real Madrid to their limits before Morata emerged as a super-sub.
The Catalans visited Valencia and produced a nail-biting encounter. Valencia could not add one more to their winning streak as they fell short, only to lose in the dying moments of the game. The scenes at Valencia were not pleasant as Messi netted the controversial penalty offered in the last minute of the game.
Stop what you're doing.

Surprisingly, Sevilla brought an end to Diego Simeone’s unbeaten run in the league this season. The result forced Simeone to praise his rivals and put as favorites to win the league. Furthermore, Villarreal surpassed Las Palmas in a breathtaking encounter to cement their place in the top half, while Malaga and Celta Vigo earned big-margin victories.
All in all, it was an exciting Matchweek and every moment of it was worth watching. The progress and intense competition in La Liga displays the quality Spanish teams hold.
The pick of the matches from Matchweek 9 is Valencia hosting the Catalan outfit, and nearly seeing them off, but unfortunately Messi spoiled the party for them. Barça earned a victory in a 5-goal thriller deep in the dying minutes of the game. Both teams had contrasting forms and despite the difference in points, Valencia gave Barça a run for their money. Barça has closed the gap at the top with the win and are now heading back to title defense. Yet again, Barça has shown the class and depth they hold in their squad. However, the scenes were not pleasant in the end as the outrage of fans came in to greet Barça on their victory.

Sevilla are now at the second spot behind the leaders, Real Madrid, with only a point separating the two sides. Sevilla were up against Atletico Madrid, a team without defeat this season, but Jorge Sampaoli’s men came out on top against their fierce rivals. The blistering form Sevilla are enjoying surely makes them a top contender for the La Liga crown. All we need to see is how consistent they are.
