La Liga Matchweek 8 Preview

By  Umair Asif - 13 October 2016

La Liga is back after a tiring international break and teams are all set for some thrilling and exciting encounters. Matchweek 8 in La Liga will start from Friday, October 14, 2016, with Las Palmas taking on Espanyol. Atletico Madrid is still leading the tally with 15 points but Real Madrid and Barcelona are not far away, keeping the chase close.

Although Barça and Real Madrid had a disappointing Matchweek 7, but with slight easy opponents this time round, both sides have a good chance to bounce back.  However, Sevilla are also in good form and will like to carry on from where they left. La Liga Matchweek 8 is expected to keep the excitement ticking.

Fixture of the Week

Athletic Bilbao v Real Sociedad

It will be another Basque Derby when Sociedad will visit Athletic Bilbao. Real’s form is hard to justify as it’s a blend of defeats and wins but they have already lost to Eibar in the previous Basque Derby, so they’ll be aiming not to lose this one. Bilbao, on the other hand, regained confidence and are flying high with their impressive form. Although it has been a late pick for them but with 3 wins in the last 4 matches, and also the home advantage, Bilbao is looking clear-cut favorites for this one. The team is yet to show its grey side, while Real Sociedad is struggling hard this season to pull off a win.

Team Talking

Real Madrid

After 4 successive victories, Real Madrid had frustrating three weeks with 3 consecutive draws against slightly easier opponents. Back-to-back draws saw Real Madrid fell off the top spot but the side is still leveled on points with the league leaders and their city rivals, Atletico Madrid. The squad is back after international duty and is aiming to bounce back.  A win would serve a major relief, which the team requires at the moment.

Player to Look At

Antonio Griezmann is currently the golden boy with all the big clubs after him and ready to spend big to acquire his services. However, the French talisman is in no mode to leave Madrid. The current top scorer of La Liga has set his sight on the highest accolade and with such a terrific form; he is going to achieve that without a doubt.
