Champions of Spain: Real Madrid!

By  Football Pulp - 22 May 2017

Plenty of records were broken in the process as Real Madrid went on to clinch their 33rd La Liga title. Yesterday marked the end of Real Madrid’s 5-year wait to claim the La Liga title once again.

Real Madrid have managed to score in every game of this La Liga season, a feat they achieved when Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener against Malaga in the 2nd minute of the game.

After success in the Champions League and the Club World Cup, Zidane has now clinched the Primera Division trophy too. And, he managed to achieve all this in just 1.5 years, which is an incredible achievement for any manager.

The coach was all praise in his post-match press conference, during which he was also interrupted by the players who came celebrating their achievement.

"It doesn't seem like it, but inside I'm very happy," Zidane said in his post-match press conference.

"38 match days and at the end of it all, it is the most difficult and beautiful, the Spanish league is the best in my opinion and to win it with this game is incredible – I am very happy.

"As always in a season, we have worked and fought until the end, and with the squad that we have we just had to think of working. It has been a difficult season that we worked hard for, with tough moments, but after 38 games we are top and that's it.

"It was very important [to win the league], it was a lot of years without winning it and we knew that the league is everything and when you win it, it is very important. And for Real Madrid, because it is the best club in the world, we have to return with this league title."

Praise came from other centers too as Raul, Casillas, Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso and Figo celebrated LaLiga on social media.

Even the long-time rivals and the previous defending champions of La Liga praised the Los Blancos for their efforts. Iniesta was the first to come forward and congratulate Real Madrid on winning La Liga.

"Well, we won. We did our homework, but Real Madrid were better than us. Congratulations to them," said Iniesta.

He added:

"No we didn't miss because of that. We won. All the rest is irrelevant. It's a shame it wasn't enough.

"We knew [the Madrid score] at half-time, but we didn't know apart from that. We did the job, but we couldn't depend just on ourselves, it was out of our hands."

Luis Enrique also praised Real Madrid’s efforts, after his side won 4-2 against Eibar, in what was his final La Liga game with FC Barcelona.

"I think the team has done a lot of good throughout the season but unfortunately the line between defeat and victory is very marginal," he added. "I wish we could keep winning title after title but now we have rivals who want the same things and have reached our level."

With lot being said on the transfer rumors, Eden Hazard is linked strongly with Real Madrid and he may be seen wearing the white jersey next season. However, two phenomenal players from Zinedine Zidane’s squad may leave Bernabeu this summer. Isco and James Rodriguez played a crucial role in the title winning campaign but these two may join former Real Madrid Coach, Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

What comes next is still undecided but for now Real Madrid are the Champions of Spain!
