Manchester United will be seen in action tonight against Anderlecht in the return leg of the quarter finals of the Europa League. Jose Mourinho’s side is on a roll as they defeated league leaders, Chelsea, 2-0 in the Premier League over the weekend, extending their unbeaten run to 24 matches in all competitions.
It’s a rapid return match for the Red Devils, and they’ll be eager to inflict defeat upon their Belgian rivals on home soil. Both sides were equally placed in the first leg of the Quarter Final last week in Brussels. Mkhitaryan scored early to give Manchester United the lead, but Leander Dendoncker's late equalizer spoiled the evening for Jose Mourinho. However, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal means Man Utd will go to Old Trafford with an away-goal advantage. With a semi-final spot within reach, Jose Mourinho and Co. will be determined to continue the winning momentum and get a step closer to the European accolade.
Manchester United will be pleased to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the starting line-up tonight, as he was tired against Chelsea and only came off the bench in the second half. Jose Mourinho was glad to see Marcus Rashford put a master-class performance for the Red Devils in the absence of the Swede maestro. Though Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones will be unavailable for tonight’s game, Jose Mourinho is not worried as he has his other options prepared.
The strong victory against the league leaders and the favorites to win the League, Chelsea, at Old Trafford this weekend remains fresh in their minds. That was arguably the best performance of the season by the Red Devils so far, and they just might continue to surprise us.
