UEFA Champions League Matchday 6 Preview

By  Umair Asif - 6 December 2016

The group stage in the Champions League is set for its conclusion. Teams are gearing up for the final showdown tonight. 13 teams have already qualified for the next round and there are three vacant spots left,  for which intense fight is expected, especially in group B and G. Fans are waiting anxiously for this epic finale before proceedings will reinitiate in February next year.

Arsenal will take on Basel aiming to win this home fixture and hoping that PSG fails to secure a win against Ludogorets, which is very unlikely. In Group C, Barcelona has already taken hold of the top spot so a win or loss does not mean a lot for them but still they will love to carry their winning momentum. Man City will host Celtic seeking revenge.

In the Group D, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have already reserved their spots in the next round but the Spanish side will be aiming at sustaining their winning streak. However, Bayern will play for pride only. Similarly, Monaco will be eyeing a win against Bayern Leverkusen to establish their dominance, whereas Spurs and CSKA will battle for pride.

Real Madrid will host Broussia Dortmund in the all-important tie of Group F, as the leader of the clan will be decided. Both sides will be hoping to get away with all the three points to make their journey into the next round a bit easier. In Group H, Sevilla will travel to France with hopes of winning but they’ll be praying that Juventus gets nothing more than a draw against Dinamo Zagreb.

All eyes will be on Group B as things are still uncertain there. The top three sides of the group are still contesting for the top two spots. Benfica will host Napoli whereas Besiktas will travel to Dynamo Kyiv.  Porto will be involved in similar battle along with København.

All in all, it is an exciting Matchday to look forward to. Keep your snacks handy as you cannot afford to miss tonight’s action in UEFA Champions League. Here are the top fixtures of Matchday 6 that you can’t afford to miss:

Porto v Leicester

The English champions have already qualified for the next round and are enjoying a firm hold of the top spot. However, Porto is just a win away from confirming their spot in the next round. Leicester inflicted defeat upon Porto in the reverse fixture and Porto will be seeking revenge in this do-or-die game. København will also be looking closely at this encounter as the Danish side will be praying for Leicester to win, besides winning their own game.

Benfica v Napoli

Benfica will host Napoli and nothing short than a win will work for either of the sides. Both sides are equal on points and in order to progress to the next round, a win is must for them. Besiktas is also in contention and will visit Kyiv in search of a win.
